It’s Christmas!

With Christmas music heard overhead, Santa Clause shouting, “Merry Christmas,” and our children giddy with excitement, there’s no doubt Christmas is here! As a small retail business, we rely heavily on this time of year to carry us through some of our slower months. With that said, I have a special request……

We say it every year…let’s remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas….let’s not get caught up in over-spending…..let’s enjoy and treasure moments with our children and family. This year, it has hit me in a slightly different way.

Let’s not leave the baby in the manger after Dec. 25.

He didn’t stay there. Why do we sometimes leave him there? He grew, he thrived, he healed, he deserves so much more.

Yes, it is a magical time of year!!! Yes, I do believe! I believe in the simplicity of the season….underneath all the flashing lights, sales signs, and rush to get “it” all done! I believe in Santa reminding us about the gift of giving! I believe our children deserve to see past the cuteness of the season and into something, someone they can truly cling to now and later in life!

Thank you for sharing part of your Christmas season with us at Livi! My family is blessed to have a glimpse into your life. As you seek to find the perfect gifts for those on your list, it is my prayer that you also find the absolute gift….the gift of life given in the birth of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!

I’m a Livi Girl!

As the story goes, a beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed pixie named Ella was heard telling her teacher in no uncertain terms, “I’m a Livi Girl.” When asked what a “Livi Girl” is, she quickly replied with a matter-of-fact smile, “A girl who shops at Livi,” as if to say, “Doesn’t everyone know?”

Ella was only 4 at the time, and it still makes me smile! Livi girls know they’re Livi girls early on!!

We want to know what makes you a LIVI GIRL!! The Spirit of Livi continues to soar as we celebrate our 4 Year Anniversary in October. As you celebrate with us, remember that the Spirit of Livi that makes us Livi Girls runs through our blood! Whether you actually drove those old dusty dirtroads as a child (YES, I do mean DROVE), or pulling on a pair of vintage cowboy boots is the closest you’ll ever come to being a “Country Girl,” you have that yearning to overcome, to roar from time to time, to grab life by its bootstraps and get on down the road…..to meet what life has to offer you!

Send us your photos of just simply living life to its fullest! Join our Livi & Company Group page on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/99979207974/ and drop your photos into our Album entitled “Living it as a Livi  Girl.” You could be selected for our Livi & Company $100 Gift Certificate to be given away in October.

Thanks for hanging out with us over the last four years! We continue to strive to bring you the most unique mixture of found treasures mixed with the spirit of friendship and true  love of junk and everything fun & fabulous! Join us Saturday, October 8th as we celebrate you with Customer Appreciation Day at Livi!

Over the course of the last week, I’ve found myself reflecting on what makes each of us who we are.  (You can always count on thoughtful moments when home with a sick child!)

The following poem was shared by Nelson Mandella after having been in captivity for 27 years before becoming President of South Africa.

Our Deepest Fear

by Marianne Williamson
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

……..let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

What? You thought it was Livi, right? If you’ve been around my husband or me lately, you know we’ve been undergoing a bit of a transformation. Back in Sept., I found myself ballooning over the top of even my dress pants with not much energy to carry myself, much less our children or the store, through the day. I’d also been in much prayer over God’s will for my life during this leg of my journey……specifically asking for ways to help those around us who have been less fortunate. Insert Visalus into my story……

Have you ever looked back and thought, WOW! I’m with you…..almost 6 months later, I stand in amazement at how God has used Livi & Company and all associated with it as his vehicle for change. It even hit me this week that the names of the two businesses are a “part” of one another, as noted in this post’s given name. Crazy!

I won’t go into details, since you can find out all you want to know and more at www.energizedandfit.bodybyvi.com , but I will tell you that I, along with hundreds of others right here in Southwest GA, have experienced change in so many ways. The core of the Visalus program is its shakes…I know, I know, are you kidding??? Having never even tried anything like this before, I was skeptical, not to mention my husband. Then I lost 6 lbs in the first week of having 2 shakes per day! Yes, they truly are delicious, and they work! Even with no workouts involved, the nutrients in these shakes have helped to sculpt my body by aiding in the conversion of fat to muscle.

Not a week goes by without someone Emailing, Facebooking, or calling with another success story……coming off of medications, losing weight, completing that marathon, having more energy, etc., once they’ve started Visalus.  I’ve been inspired to transform yet again. With that said, I’m officially committing to the second leg of my own transformation, my next 90-Day Challenge. As I said to a friend of mine, “THE WEIGHT IT GONE, IT’S TIME TO TONE!” I missed out on “before” pictures back in Sept., because I really didn’t expect the weight to come off so quickly. Not this time! I have photos, but I’m not sharing full view until I have “after” ones to compare! LOL My new goal is to become healthier & toned, and now I have the energy to work toward that goal.

So, what’s your 90-Day Challenge? To become healthier, lose weight, have more energy for your family? Here’s to the journey….yours…..mine…..let it be based on the faith that this journey is so much bigger than each of us!! Be blessed, my friends!

We’d like to send a great big shout out to the ladies at Verge, Albany’s very own elite consignment boutique! Haven’t heard of it yet? That’s because it’s still under construction, with plans to open Saturday morning at 10 AM SHARP. Just in time for Albany’s Downtown Mardi Gras Celebration!

Now you’ll have twice the selection of Vintage Livi cowboy boots! Livi has visited Verge, we love it, and we’re excited to offer our vintage cowboy boots in downtown Albany. Don’t worry, you’ll still find ‘em at Livi & Company…..you’ll just have two spots to shop!

That’s right, only a sneak peak! Trust me, we had a hard time parting with several pairs that are now at Verge. Did I mention, we still have more on the way?

The decor alone is worth the trip to Verge, but wait until you see the name brand gently used & new clothing for men & women of all ages. Take a look at our very own sneak peak!

Yes, that would be an antique chandelier, my dear friends…..it is gorgeous!

Shop a bit downtown, check out the celebration, and we’ll see you at Livi & Company Saturday afternoon! Lots to do in our very own Albany, GA this weekend….don’t miss out!

Girls will be Girls!

Blast from the Past!

Long before Livi & Company began, a group of backwoods country girls began a monthly gathering of sorts. At the time we had no idea what “Bunko” was or how to play it…..we just knew it meant a low-key monthly night away from our normal routines. In years since, our now every-other-month gathering has come to represent many things. For many of us, at one time or another, it’s been the one time out of the month we’ve felt sain amidst the world of being a new mother to a screaming newborn. It’s been the night to eat three pieces of pizza plus dessert and not be the only one! It’s been the night to celebrate the miracles God has brought into our lives. And it continues to be the night we are surrounded by women who really care about where we’ve been, where we’re headed, what it took to get here, and what it’ll take to get there.

This time around, it was a time to pull out the old prom & bridesmaid dresses from our past! I was fortunate enough to have the perfect blue dress on display at Livi…..throw in a belt buckle, lots of jewels, and a cowgirl hat, and I am set!! Thanks ladies of Leslie…..for all the years we’ve shared together laughing like school girls, yelling when those dice roll just right, and crying when you just can’t help yourself. Here’s to dressing up (or down) and just being a girl! And Barbara, your beautiful “baby” girl made our photo “Pretty in Pink!”
