Entitled, “What was I thinking,” this piece is an awesome example of who April Gill is. I met April years ago, and throughout my young adult life, she was someone who could always help me put things in perspective. For years, she was a hair stylist here in Albany, and she took good care of me! Days before I gave birth to our first child, I called April in a panic, because I needed hair help in a hurry. She had suffered an injury and off her feet at home. Still, she insisted she would absolutely not allow me to have my first child without my hair being “done!” April Gill is simply one of a kind!
April’s spirit shines through in this painting…..you can almost hear her laughter. Despite much loss in her life, April continues to push on. She now cares for her two grandchildren, who are quickly growing into young men. While sickness has put her down again and again, her spirit rebounds stronger each time.
April once said, “No woman should be without her nest,” and I think about that quite a bit as so many women cross my path each day. What does your “nest” consist of? Without mention of material things, fill your nest with fellowship of kindred spirits and a peace of knowing God isn’t done with you yet……He’s still molding you within the nest.
Last of April’s gallery we have here at Livi & Company, this is my favorite. I’ve found myself mesmerized by the vivid colors and feelings behind this painting. While a talented artist, April is a creator of many things. We also have a great bistro table & chair set covered in coins. It has quickly become the favorite pastime of little boys who visit the store….they all try their best to pry the coins from each surface! We look forward to seeing more from April, and maybe one day we’ll even be fortunate enough to have her living back in our midst here in Albany. Here’s to you, April, and the path that awaits you!
